WSU grad session | Pullman Portrait Photographer

Living in a college town presents a wonderful opportunity to photograph grads as they set off on a whole new adventure. WSU grads have a multitude of choices for photographers to take their grad pictures. I am fortunate that Jen picked me to capture this milestone in her life. It was a pretty chilly day in November but we were lucky that it wasn’t raining and the snow hadn’t reached us yet. We started out the session at what is likely the most iconic image a WSU grad is looking for.

I think that most people would admit that they are a bit shy being in front of the camera and it may take a little bit of work on the part of the photographer to put them at ease. Jen was no exception, she told me right away that she is camera shy and didn’t photograph well. I had to disagree with her on that because she did great and the camera loved her.

The most important part of any photo session is to capture the personality of the person in front of the camera. If possible that means going to the client’s favorite spot at the location you are shooting at. In this case Jen’s favorite spot on the WSU campus is outside of the library. This structure on a normally sunny day may not have allowed us to get a great image but it was the perfect time of day and I was able to capture an image for that I hope she will remember for years to come.
